SMS To Facilitate SPE European Sand Management Event Workshop
SMS, Aberdeen-based sand management specialist and steering committee member of The Sand Management Network, is to facilitate and host a pre-conference workshop for the SPE SMN 5th European Sand Management Forum. The workshop will be held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 20th March prior to the two-day conference, 21st & 22nd March 2012.
The workshop will give participants an educational and hands-on approach to all aspects of sand management from sand prediction, sand control and sand monitoring to sand handling. Speakers will include industry experts and members of the SMN including SMS, Integrated Innovative Engineering Systems, Weatherford, Jorin, Merpro, Oceaneering and Nexen.
Alistair Moncur, Integrated Projects Manager for SMS, comments, “We are very pleased to host the pre-conference workshop and welcome members of The Sand Management Network and SPE to our premises. The event will give participants an ideal introduction to the two-day Sand Management Conference and the chance to view our expert team at work.”

SMS Completes Largest Ever Export Contract in Vietnam
Aberdeen-based sand management specialist, SMS (Sand Monitoring Services Ltd), today (Tuesday, October 25th, 2011) announces the completion of a six figure contract to procure, commission and integrate two complete sand monitoring systems, for Bien Dong Petroleum - Vietnam.
Ali Moncur, Integrated Project Engineering Manager for SMS, comments, “The completion of the contract for Bien Dong Petroleum sees SMS expand further into Asia with the award and delivery of our largest ever export contract. SMS has supplied two complete platform sand monitoring systems and will commission these Q4 2011. The award of this six figure contract signifies SMS as industry leaders in the supply of sand management expertise.

SMS Appoints Group Business Development Manager to Further Expand Global Presence
Aberdeen-based sand management specialist, SMS (Sand Monitoring Services Ltd), today (1st August, 2011) announces the appointment of Frazer Barclay as Group Business Development Manager at its Aberdeen headquarters. This key appointment will be instrumental in continuing to grow the SMS brand by increasing its core business, global presence and services portfolio.
Frazer, an honours graduate in Geology and Applied Geology from the University of Glasgow, brings with him more than 12 years industry experience related to sub-surface geoscience consultancy and business development. Frazer started his career with Western Geophysical as a geophysicist followed by a move into quantative interpretation with the leading reservoir characterisation company Odegaard. Odegaard was acquired by Schlumberger in 2006 and subsequent to this Frazer built a new local consulting group offering production engineering, reservoir engineering, geoscience and geomechanical engineering services. Frazer has worked in several key oil and gas locations including London, Aberdeen, Kuala Lumpur and Perth with his most recent role as Global Geomechanics Sales and Marketing Manager being located in the United Kingdom.

SMS Makes Key Appointment to Expand Service Offering
Aberdeen-based sand monitoring and management services specialist, SMS (Sand Monitoring Services Ltd), today (Wednesday 9th March) announces the appointment of Sarah Baylis as Principal Consultant for the Integrated Project Engineering (IPE) department. This key appointment will expand the company’s service offerings to include fluid management, addressing the key problem of fines migration and re-injection of water. The appointment will also enable the company to widen its operations in West Africa.
Sarah, a qualified geologist with an impressive 31 years experience in organic and inorganic fluid geochemistry, has previously held roles with Petroflux, Axsia Serck Baker Ltd, BP and most recently Baker RDS Ltd. Sarah’s appointment as Principal Consultant for Integrated Projects underpins a period of significant staff growth for SMS in the past 18 months.

Her extensive experience of fluids management dovetails perfectly with our core sand management and monitoring expertise.
